Divorce rate up

New figures show the global financial crisis not only cost people their jobs, homes and savings, but also their marriages. The national divorce rate rose nearly five per cent last year the first increase since 2001. But the Bureau of Statistics figures show the number of people choosing to say 'I do' also increased, with 120,000 couples marrying last year. The average length of a marriage is now 12 years.
