I have been married to my second wife, Laura, for nearly 38 years. We are both in our 70s and don't want our remaining days just to "happen", but to be joyful and happy. How can anything be more important than love and relationships? I think it should be different strokes for different folks. When two people get together and decide to have a relationship, then we don’t have any right to interfere in their relationship.

If short-term relationships work out best for a couple, then they have the right to settle for them. My advise would be that don’t do anything that will make you feel ashamed of yourself the next day. If you feel okay about it then go ahead and do it.

So longas you are not dong anything illegal and not doing it under the influence of alcohol or substance, then it should be okay with everybody if it’s okay with you.

Young people who said they talked seriously to their dads "most days" gave themselves an 87 per cent score on a happiness scale compared with 79 per cent for those who said they hardly ever spoke to their fathers in this way.

The findings, from an analysis of research from the British Household Panel survey into 1,200 young people in Britain aged between 11 and 15, were released by the Children's Society to coincide with Father's Day this weekend. Nearly half of young people - 46 per cent - said they "hardly ever" spoke to their fathers about important topics compared with 28 per cent who hardly ever spoke to their mothers about the things that matter most.

When I heard that David and Ed Miliband were both running for the Labour leadership, I first thought how proud their mum must be. Then I wondered if their relationship will survive - oh, to be a fly on the wall at family gatherings.

The brothers currently claim to be good friends. Ed has promised it will be a civilised contest: "David is my best friend in the world. I love him dearly. There's no way I'm going to take lumps out of him either on the record, off-the-record or behind the scenes," he said.
